These are stressful times for most folks around the world. Everyone has an opinion about whether COVID19 is very dangerous or not. Even though I can not recall experiencing something like this in my lifetime, and it appears to be uncertain when this will all be over with, I am determined to make the most out of this situation by practicing some simple but profound self-care techniques.
As most of you know, and some of you do not know, I am a certified reflexologist, plant medicine enthusiast, and lover of all things natural. Reflexology is the practice of applying controlled pressure to reflex areas, which are areas on the feet, hands, face, and ears that represent body parts and organs. When pressure is applied to reflex areas systematically and in a controlled manner, benefits occur throughout the body. Some of the benefits are detoxification, boosted circulation, relaxation, and much more. I want to share some simple but powerful techniques that may decrease your stress level and give your immune system a boost. The reflexes in your hand that can help if you are stressed are the Adrenal Gland Reflex and Solar Plexus Reflex. The adrenal glands in our body are shaped like a walnut and sit on top of our kidneys. Their function is to secrete hormones involved in essential bodily processes and to keep our reaction to stress in balance. The Solar Plexus is a network of tight nerves located right under the apex of the bottom of the rib cage. Its function is to keep our organs running smoothly by preparing the body to respond to stress through metabolic changes. The Adrenal Reflex is located between the tip of the thumb and your wrist. The Solar Plexus Reflex can be found on the palm side under your middle finger, right at the point that lines up just under the knuckle. In addition to using reflexology, there are numerous teas that can help you during this time, such as chamomile, lavender, kava, valerian, and passionflower, to name a few. Remember to sip on a good quality tea, preferably loose leaf tea. You can also add other nutritionally satisfying flowers, herbs, tinctures, etc. Some additives I like to add to my teas are hibiscus, roses, lemons, cardamom, and flower essences. Just experiment and have fun! Another simple but powerful technique is deep breathing, also known as abdominal breathing or belly breathing. The first step to deep breathing is to relax your shoulders and inhale through your nose (experience the air moving through your nose into your abdomen as you expand the stomach). Hold your breath for a few seconds and then slowly exhale, completely emptying your lungs. It helps if you put one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach. Deep breathing has numerous benefits and can help you relax, lower your blood pressure, and balance your heart rate. Always check with your medical provider before doing these breathing exercises if you have COPD, asthma or other lung issues. Lastly, I want you to know the power to help ourselves is in our hands(reflexes) and in nature(teas, flowers and etc.). Let’s use what has been given to us to help us live a better life. We must take care of our hearts in 3 ways in order for it to be full of Purpose. The 3 R,s of heart health.
The 1st thing we must do is Release all unforgiveness and bless both good and bad experiences as its for your highest good. Never allowing a person, place or situation to allow you to keep negativity in your heart as this keeps the negative emotion alive within you and may even cause sickness, disease and worse. We must renew our hearts daily allowing goodness and mercy in. As I understand that grief is stored in the heart. We can walk around for years carrying pain, disappointment, anger, hatred and a bout load of other emotions that rob us of our good. We must release daily negative emotions and there is many ways to do that but I will just expand on a few. The 1st way to release is to acknowledge it immediately and remember if someone did something offense toward you its really about them and how they feel not about you. The insult is never about you. This took me awhile to realize this but I finally got it! The book "The Four Agreements" by Don Miquel is a wonderful book. Do me a favor as you observe the insults to other people or maybe even yourself watch the person doing the insulting and you will soon discover its all about what their perspective is and how they feel about a particular person or situation. No matter how justified they feel in feeling this way if they somehow changed there perspective they would have a different experience. I dare you to change your perspective on something right now perhaps a co-worker that was mean to you and tried to sabotage you. If you would think about why are people mean mostly fear so she may fear you taking her position of getting more shine. So actually if you knew her story you may even feel sorry for her perhaps she never received attention from her parents growing up which lead her to always be an overachiever. It still gives her no reason to take her actions out on you but you get my point. So really what's in order is to pray for her as you may never know what's going on with her but trust me it is and it may be deeply rooted and she maybe unaware of her behavioral. So release anything that appears to be an offense and pray for the other person. The 2nd R is Roses for heart Health. Yes! A properly-maintained body remains in good shape and has very strong immunity. So, next time you service any of your machines, remember to do the same to your body. Carminative Properties A carminative agent is one that helps in the removal of excess gases from the intestines. Excess gas can move up the intestines and result in abdominal discomfort, indigestion and chest pain. In addition, it can prevent high blood pressure.
