The Lungs are a pair of spongy air-filled organs located on both sides of the chest. The lungs bring fresh oxygen into our body. They remove the carbon dioxide and other waste gases that your body doesn’t need. The Lungs main function is to bring in air from the atmosphere and pass oxygen into bloodstream. Next, it circulates throughout the body. The organs require help from surrounding structures in the body in order to breathe properly. The lung reflexes are located above the diaphragm reflex and just below the toes on the ball of the foot. Because the lung reflex on the foot stretches across several zones, you can use the zones to determine which part of the lung you are working on. The left lung has two lobes, as the heart takes up space on left side of the upper chest. The right lung has three lobes. The reflexes show this size difference. The left lung reflex stretches from the edge of the second zone to the fifth zone. The right lung reflex stretches across the entire second zone to the fifth zone. The upper lobes are located toward the second zone, and the lower and middle lobes (right lung only) are located toward the fifth zone. Massage (lay person) or finger walk (Reflexologist) the lung reflexes using press-and-release motions. Use circular, friction motions on any tense areas. Paying special attention to the lung reflex if you have a lung condition such as asthma, COVID-cough, shallow breathing or any other lung condition reflexology may assist you with. Here I will list several tips to support a healthier lung: hydration, exercise, indoor quality, breathing exercise, and check for mold and install carbon monoxide detectors just to name a few.
There is a number of nutritious foods that support lung health and I will mention just a few here. for example; apples, beets, pumpkin, leafy greens and tomatoes. There is some foods to avoid if you want to have healthy lungs a few will be mentioned here: Sodium cause fluid retention, which can lead to shortness of breath so herbs and spices to season food. Dairy product causes phlegm and mucus in the body which can increase coughing then wheezing. This can be avoided by using plant-based milks like almond, oat or rice milk. Processed meats should be avoided if at all possible try to purchase no nitrates added when purchasing processed meat. Soda is definitely not a friend to someone who has lung disease or want healthy lungs. Carbon Dioxide can be found in soda which may cause gas and bloating that makes it harder to breath. The high sugar content can increase inflammation and can lead to weight gain which can lead to other diseases and if someone has COPD it can exacerbate symptoms. A good alternative to soda is noncarbonated flavored beverages, tea, natural juices and flavored water. Another no-no is fried foods which can raise cholesterol and may increase heart disease. Another support for the lungs is essential oils. There are single essential oils and/or blends that can be diffused in the air, bath or just inhales through the nostrils. Some of the single essential oils are Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, lavender, tea tree. There is an amazing blend called Breathe and Respi for lung/respiratory issues that can be inhales and diffused. If you would like more information on Reflexology and/or essential oils for lung health. L Hibiscus Rose Latte Recipe

Reflexology has many benefits including relaxation. Let me briefly tell you what reflexology is before i go any further. There are reflexes in the feet, hands, ears and face that represent all body parts and organs. If there is a sensitivity or what some may call crystal in a reflex area then that may mean something is going on in that area. However, we as reflexologist do not diagnose any medical condition. However, we can help our clients through the story the feet (hands, ears and face) tell us. There are two main reflexes that can assist someone when it comes to relaxation that's the solar plexus and adrenal reflexes. Today I will talk about the Adrenal Reflex which represents the tiny organs that sits on top of each kidney. They carry out very important roles in the body. Here are just a few examples of the roles they play in the body. The adrenals secrete numerous hormones that impact our development and growth which help regulate our kidney function. Also helps us by by regulating our "fight or flight" response in the body with hormones norepinephrine and epinephrine. Reflexology has many benefits and one of the benefits is relaxation. If you would like to talk to me in further detail about how reflexology can help you. Please feel free to contact me. |
